28 May, from the crew dude, part 2

G'day all!

Not a lot to report really, in fact hardly anything, as the weather hasn't been conducive to anything other than hypothermia if you're out in it for more than a few seconds.  So we ended up buying a few essentials from a store that seems to have just about everything for sale, all under the one roof.  Oh, and bug-wipers arrived for Eric, and a Flarm unit, and perhaps we might get around to fitting those if the temperature lets us go outside for more than minimal time.

I might end up making two blog entries per day, one at the start describing what we might do (if anything!) and one at the end stating that we didn't do anything at all, or something.

Meantime, here are a couple of pics of the hangar woodwork…

First, an overall view of the hangar.  All the support beams are wood.

Detail of one of the beams.  Just ignore the note - most of the better-illuminated beams had notes on them!  But see how they're constructed - quite a few planks steam-bent and joined together.  With glue - no nails.

Eric tried the cockpit out.  It's cold, and he's freezing :-)  But at least he fitted well.

A Pik-3, vintage around 1963 I think.

The hangar is in two parts, the other half is possibly operated / used by a powered-aircraft group.  This is one of their aircraft!

That's all, folks...
