1 June, from the crew dude, part 2

Aaaaaaaannnddd… they're OFF!

Finally!  After several days of unflyable weather, Day 1 has turned out usable.  Apparently this is quite common here :-) - first usable day being the first day of the comp...

Anyway, Task A was never used, Task B was set, racing task of 370 km.  First launch 1130.

A sniffer went up.  Not enough to send anyone off, so first launch 1200.

Then 1230.

Then 1300, and a new task, C.  This is a 3-hour AAT, scratch distance around 290 km I think.  Eric intends to take it easy, understandably.  Everything's working including his SPOT tracker, so I'll see who he's going.  No doubt he'll be able to tell some tales about Finland from the air, as neither of us has seen it properly from the air yet (when we arrived, there was total cloud cover, down to 500 ft).

Got a few photos, which I'll post after getting Eric's start-time and notifying it to the comp office (not sure why they don't monitor the radio for this purpose anyway, but that's the way it is).  Then it'll be just a matter of waiting around for him to radio in on final, then picking him up.  At least, that's how it *should* go…

Once again, stay tuned!
