31 May, from the crew dude, part 2

Back again!

Well, you know what they say about projects… the first 90% of the project takes the first 90% of the time, and the last 10% takes the other 90% of the time.  Still, we had plenty of time.

So Eric tried a few combinations of instrument placement before finding an arrangement that worked.  Then we set about doing the electrics for the bug-wipers, which, after we'd talked to their previous owner, turned out pretty simple.  A whole mass of wire and switches have now ensured that the two motors (really, battery screwdrivers turned into winches for the bug-wiper deploy/retract cables) work just fine.  All that remains now is to physically install them!

This won't be done for this first comp, but we'll get it done before the main event.  It might involve some expertise from a few other people though…

Oh, and Eric got through registration OK.  First comp day is tomorrow (no practice!) if the weather's up to it.  Rumour is that gridding might be open from as early as 0830, with a Finnish briefing at 0900 and an English briefing at 0930.  Forecast seems to be no rain (for once!); no idea how long the task will be but I guess we'll find that out.

So far we've seen the local scenery only from the ground.  Hopefully Eric'll be able to tell us that it looks like from the air!

No photos this time; seen one photo, seen 'em all…

Cheers
